SRK gets a taste of Twitter bashing…

Shah Rukh Khan, till recently a regular Twitter user who readily shared his inner thoughts with fans, quit the social networking site after his son read some abusive tweets directed at Shah Rukh.
Shah Rukh says the abusive tweets wouldn’t have bothered him but for the fact that he now has children and employees that look up to him.
“I have two kids who are growing up very fast. They look up to me. I have my employees who also look up to me,” he says.
Speaking to the press during a break between rehearsals for the Zee Cine Awards in Singapore, Shah Rukh explained that he took to Twitter at the suggestion of pal Karan Johar.
“But then something happened recently, which broke my heart. I was left wondering as to why I was being subjected to all this,” he said.

“Everybody’s entitled to freedom of speech but posting gaalis and abusive words is another matter. I certainly don’t deserve it. My son (Aryan) came to know about one such case and asked me, ‘Dad, who are these people? Why on earth should they talk to you like that?’ That’s when I decided to take a break from it.”
After a break, Shah Rukh tried to resume his Twitter interactions, but the faceless abusers quickly returned.

“When something bad is written about me, at least I know who’s behind it,but these (on Twitter) are faceless and nameless people. They are just getting a kick by giving gaalis to Shah Rukh Khan, I’m bewildered by all this,”
he says.

Salman begins his clean days… Abstains from alcohol!!!

Salman Khan has decided to abstain from alcohol. He has taken this decision to develop six pack abs for his role in brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri’s film My Love Story. He will not go anywhere close to the slow poison till completes the shooting of ‘My Love Story’, which is a remake of the Malayalam film Bodyguard.
Buzz has it that Salman stopped drinks his birthday on December 27. Now, he’s hitting the gym with vengeance to get rid of all the flab he accumulated since Dabangg. This will take ten months.
Says a source, “Yes, Salman loves to drink, but he has now become very conscious after the stupendous success of Dabangg and Bigg Boss 4.” “Abstaining from alcohol is not difficult for Salman. He has done this in the past. In fact every year, he goes off hard drinks during the holy month of Ramzan and Ganesh Chaturthi festival.” added the source.

Ritesh-Genelia are a couple….. It’s confirmed!!!

It’s now official that Ritesh and Genelia are an item. There have been speculations about the duo dating each other right from 2002 but, as usual the couple always kept their affair under wraps.
On Sunday night, at Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna’s 10th wedding anniversary party at their Juhu residence, Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza held hands and danced passionately with each other. Their body language clearly showed that they were nothing but a couple.
Said an eye-witness, “They were together throughout the party. Their common friends, who usually hang out with them, hadn’t accompanied them this time.”
Added the witness, “Akshay and Twinkle’s party rocked. The decoration, food, drinks and ambience were outstanding.
But the khullam khulla attitude Ritesh and Genelia had been something that we have never seen before and will go down in history. They have always been the shy and reticent types. This was the first time they let their hair down to publicly acknowledge their feelings for each other.”

Are Bipasha and John still together???

When it comes to love matters, time is not just a healer but a stealer too. Buzz has it that the eight years long togetherness of John Abraham and Bipasha Basu has come to a still.
Though this is not the first time that there are talks about their relationship hitting a rough patch, but what supports these rumors is the fact that the duo has not been spotted together in public for an extremely long time. Not only have the couple been skipping the award functions, recently when Bipasha attended Hrithik Roshan’s birthday bash, John was conspicuously missing by her side.
We strongly guess that the item are now bored of each other. Says a source,“They have known each other for over eight years now. But their differences seem to be increasing over time.
There seems to be signs of boredom and things are heading for a dead end. Buzz doing the B-Town rounds is that the two don’t seem interested in each other.”
Bipasha however maintains that both of them are very busy with their respective works and so this is the case.
We really really pray that things are good between the couple and this is just a rumor.

Deepika Padukone kisses Siddharth Mallya.. Her dad remains a mute spectator!!

Hottie Deepika Padukone has been spotted and snapped with Siddharth Mallya on many occasions. Though they still maintain that they are ‘just good friends’, their affection for each other seems to be more than mere friendship.
The way the duo hog the limelight, its clear that they are romancing each other.
Recently, Deepika was with her family in Copenhagem, New England on her birthday on 5th January. Siddharth, whom Deepika wasn’t expecting at all, surprised her by making it to the party. The emotionally charged leggy lady rushed to him, greeted him, gave him a bear hug and then kissed him in front of her dad. Of course, it was just a peck on the cheeks. Deepika was obviously mightily pleased with him when he turned up.
What more could Sid have asked for?

SRK wins over Salman in the Zee Cine Awards…

Thanks to Aamir Khan for noth doing any film in 2010. Hence, in the Best Actor category the fight for the trophy was basically between Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan. While Salman bagged the Best Actor award in the Star Screen and Apsara awards, it was Shahrukh awarded the Best Actor statuette for his performance in My Name Is Khan at the Zee Cine Awards. Shahrukh won the award for his sublime portrayal of an autistic person in the Karan Johar magnum opus ‘My Name is Khan.’
Dabangg managed to sweep 9 awards in different categories, including Best Film.
Ishqiya’s Vidya Balan took home the Best Female Actor trophy. Karan Johar was given the Best Director award for My Name is Khan.Vidya Balan. The Jury Award for Best Actor and Actress, however, went to Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai for their performances in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish. Arjun Rampal (Rajneeti) and Prachi Desai (Once Upon a Time in Mumbai) claimed the trophies in Best Supporting Actor category while funny man Boman Irani got the Best Comic Actor trophy for ‘Well Done Abba.’
Ranvir Singh of Band Baaja Baaraat lapped up yet another trophy for the Most Promising Debut (Male) award and Sonakshi Sinha won the best debutante award for Dabangg. Her dad Shatrughan Sinha was given the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Salman’s ‘Ready’ most awaited…

Salman Khan is the talk of the town these days. After winning multiple awards for his awesome performance in Dabangg, his upcoming film ‘Ready’ is an icing on the cake.
In a recent poll conducted by a popular website, Salman’s ‘Ready’ was voted as the most eagerly awaited film for the first half of 2011. The other flicks listed in the poll besides ‘Ready’, were Aamir Khan’s Dhobi Ghat, Hrithik Roshan-Katrina Kaif’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Priyanka Chopra’s 7 Khoon Maaf and Akshay Kumar’s Patiala House.
Salman’s ‘Ready’, co-starring Asin is directed by Anees Bazmee. The film is the remake of Telugu hit ‘Ready’ which originally starred Ram and Genelia. It was one of the super hit films of 2008. Buzz had it that Deepika Padukone was Bazmee’s first choice but if sources are to be believed, it is said that Salman Khan was the one who recommended Asin for the project.
The film is not an action thriller but a comedy with doses of action.

Hrithik’s comment on Salman Khan….

Just a week ago, Hrithik celebrated his Birthday and was in full mood to forgive and forget.
When Salman Khan called him a “child”, Hrithik reacted in a very decent way saying, “Salman must have said it with affection. And I don’t think there is anything wrong in being a child,”.
But recently, Hrithik and his wife Sussanne shot with Karan Johar for an episode of Koffee with Karan.
On the show, Hrithik shot back at Sallu by saying, “Salman thinks that the world is conspiring against him, but that’s not true. We all love him.” He further added, “I don’t want to use this as a medium to comment on Salman.”
Well Hrithik’s comment clearly shows that things between the two actors are still not over and buried. We wonder how Sallu miya is gonna react to this…

First Look- Check out John Abraham in ‘Force’…

John Abraham has a body to die for and that also makes the star just perfect for any action film, but the handsome boy of Bollywood was never seen in a hard-core action movie after his villainous act in Dhoom.
So, here is John for the first time showing his muscle power and eight packs in the movie Force which is produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah.
So what is John doing in the film? He plays an encounter specialist; check out the gun tucked in his jeans. The movie is the remake of the Tamil film Kakha Kakha and is directed by Nishikant Kamat of Mumbai Meri Jaan fame.
John says the movie is his first pan India film after a long gap, and it is not just the action which is good in the film, the romance is also beautiful. The movie’s main lead opposite John is the chirpy Genelia D’Souza.

Yamla Pagla Deewana – Deol Pariwar da Dhamaal

By Raam
Director: Samir Karnik
Banner: Top Angle Productions
Writer: Jasvinder Singh Bhatt
Cinematagrophy: Kabir Lal, Binod Pradhan
Editor: Mukesh Thakur
Music: Pyarelal, Anu Malik, RDB, Sandesh Shandilya, Rahul Seth, Sanjoy Chowdhary
Cast: Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Anupam Kher, Nafisa Ali, Johnny Lever, Puneet Issar, Kulraj Randhawa, Himanshu Mallik, Sucheta Khanna, Emma Brown Garett
Grade: A – Wah! Kya Film Hai :)
After the melodramatic APNE in 2007, Dharam paji ka pariwar is back together in Samir Karnik’s Yamla Pagla Deewana once again. And the outcome, well I never thought I would be able to say this about a Samir Karnik film – BRILLIANT. The film doesn’t fail to entertain for one single moment and the audience are definitely in for a wonderful laugh riot, a rarity in Hindi Cinema nowadays.
Story: The story starts with Ajay Devgan providing the voice-over about the films of the seventies where the family splits under very unusual circumstances and everyone is reunited once again for a Happy Ending (the footages of B.R. Chopra’s Waqt, Nasser Hussain’s Yaadon ki Baarat and Manmohan Desai’s Amar Akbar Anthony are shown). Understandably, this is supposed to belong to that cliched genre, yet a successful seventies Hindi Cinema formula.
Paramveer Singh Dhillon (Sunny Deol) is a Indian settled in Vancouver (Canada) with two kids, a foreign wife and mother (played by Nafisa Ali). He is leading a happy and comfortable life except that he does not know the whereabouts of his father Dharam Singh (played by Dharmendra) who runs away with his brother Gajodhar Singh (played by Bobby Deol) during his childhood.
One fine day, a family who newly moves into his neighbourhood visits them and one of the members from the family recognises Dharam Singh from the photograph hanging on the wall. He complains that he was robbed by this man when he was in Benaras not less than six months ago. So, Paramveer sets off to Benaras to find his missing brother and father.
The rest of the story is about how he finds them and how he tries to reunite his family with a to be solved brother’s love story problem which leads to event after event that has everybody in splits.
Performances: The story had enough scope for all the lead cast and nowhere in the movie would one feel that the Deols were forced into the script. Each one delivers thir best. It was a respite to watch the veteran Dharmendra (our He-Man) back on screen with a bang. Dharampaji delivers a brilliant performance which includes a lot of funny one liners.
Sunny Deol was at his usual ease with the character of a Sardar. There is no yelling of dialogues that we usually get to see in his performances. Sunny Deol understood his role well and delivers a subtle and niche performance. All his soft dialogues are well compensated by his macho fights, not to forget the scene in the climax where he just shouts and the goons begin to fly.
Bobby Deol was very good as both a conman and lover boy. He is absolutely comfortable when acting alongside his brother and father. The re-enacting of the tanki scene from Sholay and the Gabbar style scene are nice.
Kulraj Randhawa (Saheba), whose earlier works were only in Punjabi makes a neat and clean debut and she is at ease.
Anupam Kher as Joginder Singh is simply brilliant. A wonderful role for the veteran performer after a long time and he makes sure that the audience love this Sardar’s character absolutely. His scenes with a revolver in his hand at all times are simply superb.
Johnny Lever does a cute little cameo and he is impressive. Sucheta Khanna (Poli), the heroine’s brothers and their friend Binda (played by Amit Mistry), Emma Brown Garett (as Mary), the two kids and Puneet Issar are all good.
Technical Aspects: This is not a new story and since the story involves the Deol pariwar, the audience might feel they know what they are in for. But, let me tell you – you will be surprised with what you will get. Instead of an action-packed melodrama, director Samir Karnik wields a wonderful comedy and the audience are sure to walk out of the cinemas with a sense of satisfaction.
The music was good with the title song standing out. Cinematography and screenplay are decent. Editing could have been better. Fights are both hilarious and filled with action. Watch out for the luka-chupi episode in the climax – wonderful.
This Lodhi, watch Yaadon ki Baarat and Amar Akabar Anthony the Andaz Apna Apna style.
Word of Advice: Do not miss it!
Janta janarthan ka kya grade hai????
A: Wah! Kya Film Hai :) :) , B: Paisa Vasool :) , C: Ek Baar Chalta Hai :D , D: Bakwaas ;) , E: Poora time Waste :( :(

Emraan boycotts Award functions.. Calls it a circus…

Emraan Hashmi doesn’t seem to have much faith left in the Bollywood award shows held recently.
If you look at the list of the winners at the award shows held recently, you can’t help noticing one superstar bagging the Best Actor trophy while another given the Best Actor by Popular Choice award. Emraan Hashmi, who was also nominated for these awards for his performance in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, says these award shows are merely self congratulatory exercise for many Bollywood folks.

“If you see any award ceremony, they are pleasing everyone. There are three categories for every actor… it’s ridiculous… and three awards given to music. I really don’t want to be part of the circus. The whole industry goes and claps for it but I don’t want to be part of it,”
Emraan is quoted as saying by a news agency.
Aamir Khan is already known for his disdain for these popular award shows. He boycotts them without exception. Now, Emraan seems to be headed the same way.
“These award ceremonies really don’t make a difference to me. I have got my acclaim and awards from the audience… I don’t really see that (award functions) as something I ever really believed it. I generally don’t approve of these nominations,”Emraan is quoted as saying.
Emraan will be seen later this month in director Madhur Bhandarkar’s comedy film Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji.

Anushka Sharma purchases her first branded bag….

The Band Baaja actress, Anushka Sharma is strongly against endorsing expensive bags.
She says, “I don’t think actresses should flaunt their branded bags. It sets a wrong trend and misleads young girls who cannot afford them.
They get influenced and thus pressurise their parents to let them work in a call centre, so that they can earn enough money to afford such bags.”
Anushka candidly confesses, “In fact I bought my first branded bag recently while shooting for Patiala House in London. I went to a high end shop and fell in love with this expensive bag.
It took me three days to decide whether to buy it or not. I even harrowed my mom and called her many times in those three days to ask whether I should spend so much on a bag or not.”

Real life Sabrina’s take on ‘No One Killed Jessica’…

Sabrina Lall absolutely loved Rajkumar Gupta’s No One Killed Jessica, a film based on the murder of her sister model Jessica Lall. Having fought a long legal battle for bringing her sister’s killer to book, Sabrina says the film immortalises Jessica and hopes murdered teenager Aarushi.
“It was eerie…and very moving. We were all deeply relieved by how true to life the film has turned out,” Sabrina said after watching a special screening for her in Delhi.

“When we agreed to let them make the movie, me and and family had been warned about the ‘Bollywood types’. We were told, ‘You don’t know what you are getting into. Why have you given the NOC? Now they’ll just do anything they like.’ But watching the film I feel vindicated. It will make Jessica a kind of immortal,”
 she said.
Admiring the director for his re-creation of the harrowing time after Jessica’s murder in 1999 when Sabrina and her family knocked on doors for justice, she said: “Rajkumar Gupta has replicated almost every detail of the events after Jessica’s death. Even the conversations in the film are what I’ve gone through. All my cousins were like, ‘My god how did the director know all this?’.”
Gupta had got the script approved by Sabrina. “Rajkumar had sat with me for almost a week. We discussed everything about the case. And it’s all there now. I’ve moved on, moved away from even the house where Jessica and I lived. I haven’t held on to any of her possessions except the photographs. Ironically, the film will now be there to remind us of her all the time.”
For 11 years Sabrina fought for justice for her sister and she admits it’s a good feeling to see it all.
“After the tragedy when we were all devastated by the sheer randomness of it, my mother had said, ‘There has to be a reason for it’. Now I feel Jessica didn’t die for nothing. Her death made people question the whole legal system where an influential and rich politician’s son could walk free after a murder…He (Manu Sharma) thought he had gotten away with it. There was this whole awakening of the country’s conscience after Jessica. We suffered. But I feel it wasn’t in vain. And now there’s the film. It does Jessica justice in an unexpected way.”
Though Sabrina is thrilled by the uncanny likeness of actress Myra Karn, who plays Jessica, to her sister, she doesn’t think Vidya resembles her in any way.
“Vidya is brilliant. But I don’t think she was trying to replicate my personality in any way…we aren’t similar at all. But the girl playing Jessica is so much like Jessica in her vivacity…there’s a sequence of a candle-light vigil where Myra’s picture looks so much like Jessica in that picture we’ve seen of her in all newspapers,” Sabrina said.
Speaking of justice denied, Sabrina hopes teenager Aarushi Talwar, who was murdered in May 2008, too gets justice. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) now seeks to close the case citing lack of evidence.
“That poor girl. How can they just close her case like this? I hope the girl finds justice, just like Jessica did.”
