Chak De..., Taare... win National Awards

It's celebration time for Shah Rukh Khanand Aamir Khan as Chak De India andTaare Zameen Par have bagged National Awards for the year 2007.

While Chak De India has won the award for Best Overall Entertainment, Taare Zameen Par has been given the Best Family Welfare Entertainment award.

Apart from the Khans, Anil Kapoor is also a happy man as his movie Gandhi My Father has won not one but two awards. Feroz Khan has won the Best Screenplay award and Darshan Jariwala has won the Best Supporting Actor award for the same movie.

Filmmaker Priyadarshan's offbeat Tamil film Kanchivaram has scored big at the 55th National Film Awards 2007, winning Best Feature Film and Best Actor for Prakash Raj, while renowned Malayalam director Adoor Gopalakrishnan has been adjudged Best Director for Naalu Pennungal.

Set in the backdrop of Kanjeevaram's handloom silk industry from the 1920s to 1948, Kanchivaram is the story of a non-political weaver who leans towards communism and soon becomes a revolutionary leader and an advocate of the ideology, only to find himself caught between personal needs and his pursuit of social equality.

Kannada actress Uma Shri is Best Actress for Gulabi Talkies.

Lyricist Prasoon Joshi gets the award for the Best Lyrics for Maa from Taare Zameen Par about a dyslexic child. The song also gets Shankar Mahadevan the National Award for Best Playback Singer, Male. Shreya Ghoshal won the Best Singer, Female for Jab We Met.

Bhavna Talwar's directorial debut Dharm that explored religious undercurrents has won Best Film for National Integration award.
