Salman's money diverted in hospital scam

A scam running into crores came to light at the Tata Memorial Cancer hospital, after actor Salman Khan casually asked a seven-year-old cancer patient if she had received Rs five lakh sent by him.

The actor was surprised to hear that the money had never reached her. It was only when he enquired with themanagement that the skeletons came tumbling out.

An internal audit earlier this month had found that the hospital's chief accountant, A J Mangaonkar, had allegedly been swindling donations in connivance with some senior staff.

Sources in the hospital management said the swindling was noticed in the first week of September when they received information about the alleged involvement of the chief accountant in the donation fraud.

A committee is now looking into the allegations.
