Chintu Ji leaked before its release

The Rishi Kapoor-starrer Chintu Ji is slated to release on September 4. But a day before its release, pirated copies of the movie is already available on some video sharing and download websites as well as the P2P network. The low-key film has received postive initial reviews but it being available online even before it opens in the theatres might impact the film's earnings.Produced by Bobby Bedi and directed by Ranjit Kapoor, Chintu Ji's starcast includes - apart from Rishi Kapoor - Priyanshu Chatterjee, Kulraj Randhawa, Saurabh Shukla, Grusha Kapoor and Sophie Choudhry.Such leaks before a film's release is not uncommon. Though such incidents tend to make bigger headlines in Hollywood. On April 1, 2009, the joke was on 20th Century Fox, when the news spread about X-Men Origins: Wolverine being leaked online. The film was supposed to release a month later.Even the multi-Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire had to pay the price for its late release in India. By the time the film hit Indian screens much of the film's Indian audience had already watched a pirated copy.Though some Indian producers have started to keep a track on the online world to curb piracy. Yash Raj Films also have a page on their website, though which users can report piracy. But these do not seem to be deterrent enough.
