The 57th National Film Awards ceremony was held in New Delhi yesterday (15th Sept). Amitabh Bachchan won the Best Actor Award for his outstanding performance as a progeric kid in Paa. The film also bagged Best Hindi Film award, Best Supporting Actress for Arundhati Nag and Best Make-Up for Christein Tinsley and Dominie Till.
Bollywood dominated the NFA’s with 3 Idiots being the other big winner. Aamir’s ’3 Idiots’ was named the Best Popular Film for providing wholesome entertainment to its audiences.

Best Lyricist: Swanand Kirkere for “Behti hawa sa” (3 Idiots)
Best Director: Rituparno Ghosh (Abohoman)
Best Music Director: Amit Trivedi (Dev D)
Best Playback Singer (female): Nilanjana Sarkar for Houseful.
Best Playback Singer (male): Rupam Islam for ‘Mahanagar’
Nargis Dutt award for best film with a social message: Delhi 6.
Best Background Score: Illayaraja.
Best Film on social awareness: Well Done Abba.
