Dhobi Ghaat is an upcoming Hindi film produced and directed by Kiran Rao in her directorial debut. It had its world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on Friday.
The hall was packed and a huge crowd waited outside, to catch a glimpse of their favorite star Aamir Khan, who walked the red carpet in a brown bandhgala suit.
Reports say that, about 1700 tickets for Dhobi Ghat were sold out days before the screening and people who could not manage it, tried to buy tickets in black by paying double the price.
The film won hearts of many. The audience were spellbound by its characters, its story, and its director.
Aamir thanked all the people who came for the screening of the film and even posted a user’s review on his blog, writing,
“Worth it doing the film just for that one response.”
The film is about four different individuals, Arun (a painter), Munna (a washer man), Yasmin (a young married Muslim girl), Shai (banker on a holiday in India). How their lives are entwined makes the film a must-watch. The one who is heaped with praises is Prateik Babbar who played Munna in the film.
The flick is set to release in February, 2011.
